FAQ

What is MCP?+

The Model Context Protocol is the open standard AI agents use to call external tools. Connect TechSpy once and Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client can scan sites and read your saved results as native tools — no glue code.

Which plans include the MCP server and CLI?+

Plus and Max. They use your plan's existing allowances — there is no separate API quota. Plus gets 30 scans a day, 10 Deep Scan and 5 Interact credits a month; Max is unlimited scans with 50 and 25.

How are credits charged when an agent scans?+

Exactly like the app and REST API: every scan uses one daily scan (even when a recent result is reused), Deep Scan uses a Deep Scan credit, and Interact uses an Interact credit plus a Deep Scan credit. Failed scans are refunded. Reading scans, your account and strategy analyses is free.

What happens when I run out?+

The tool returns TechSpy's 402 message unchanged, so the agent tells you exactly what ran out. The CLI exits with code 4. Upgrade or buy a Deep Scan 20-Pack on the pricing page.

Is my API key safe in the config?+

The key only authorises TechSpy on your account and can be revoked or regenerated anytime from the dashboard. The CLI stores it in ~/.config/techspy with owner-only permissions and never takes it as a command-line flag.

Do agent scans show up in my dashboard?+

Yes. Scans from the MCP server and the CLI are saved to your scan history by default, so you can open, compare and monitor them in the app.
